10th post

Finally, end of another grueling block. I learnt quite a lot of technical stuff from this module which I felt was very useful as MoI rarely has such modules. I'm sure the knowledge from the module will be extremely useful for the future. I'm also sure it prepares us for SIP. I'm all along interested in post production work or something along that line, so this has benefitted me a lot.

Today is the workshop for post production stuff. I overslept, yet again. I have to find out from classmates.

Today is the day of the shoot for our assignment two. First I want to thank Derick, Kirin and Apple's group for willing to loan us a camera. We had difficulties loaning them from the equipment store as there we shortage of cameras as some of the groups had overdue cameras. However thanks to the people above the shoot continued as planned. It was surprising we finished our shoot ON TIME. Things did not turn out as I expected or visualised as I'm not the director or script writer. However, we really did not have enough time and I guess we should make do with what we have and see if I can perform some magic? Stressful.

Nothing much today. We finalised on the script then sent it to Betrand. More pre-production planning. *Dreads*

Today is yet another pre-production day. This time is for our assignment two. Initially we did not have any ideas for the NDP thing. However after much brainstorming, we decided to experiment on some commercial / music video film thing. Sounds complicated. We decided to use food to represent Singapore citizens since we all love food and its nationally known. We sort of knew what to do. We then assigned roles for each other and I was landed with the editor job. Actually I quite like doing editing though.

After all the preparation work, it was finally the day of the shoot for assignment one. There were some minor problems as we were late for the shoot and had little time to work with. So we hastened and set up the equipments. Jasmine was late as the bus broke down. Lol what a time. But things went fine, I guess and we completed assignment one. I felt it wasn't that tough though. Just that we needed an interesting script and sort of like planning the shots. But does it like defeat the purpose of using the visual mixer? But I guess we are amateurs anyways, so its all good right.

Today is the rehearsal for the first assignment. We decided amongst ourselves that ShaoHui will be the visual mixer since he seems to be good with the equipment. Our group consists of me Jasmine, Clarissa and ShaoHui. We will be collaborating with Andrea Lim's group for assignment one. Which we were supposed to write their script and they were to write ours. We had a minor mix up which we did the opposite but rectified the error by end of the rehearsal. Rehearsal seemed fine with only some minor hiccups from the talents, which was me and Jasmine. We will have to set up the equipments on the actual day itself since on today's shoot the lights and all were already set up.

Today is supposed to be a combined class for the guest speakers talk. However I kind of overslept and did not turn up for the 9am class. Which I felt I missed out on many things which is relevant for the module and even for the rest of my life in MoI.  ):

Today we were introduced to the visual mixer by Jac. Initially it looked like a very complicated machine to use as there we many buttons on the mixer. However, after the some brief introduction, I learnt some basic functions such as cutting or fading from one camera angle to another. There are some other transitions available to use but they seem very old fashioned to me in the generation such as now. So I will probably only stick to fading in and out or cut scene.

1st Post

Hi my name is Clinton. Today is the first lesson for Video Production Two. Today, we had a brief introduction to the stuffs we will be learning in the lessons ahead. For Video Production Two, we will be focusing on multi camera production. We were taught the set-up procedures and some hand outs were given out. In the hand outs, silent hand signals were explained. It is usually used during live shows where audiences are around so the director or floor manager cannot shout commands out. We were also taught on the multi camera set-up diagrams so we could further understand and do floor plans. Tomorrow we will be taught on the visual mixer which would be needed for assignment one.
